I use my craft/cutting table to pin baste. I also use binder/bulldog clips. I spread out my backing fabric, clip it down around all sides of the table. Lay out my batting and repeat the clipping process. Then the top and clip all three pieces. Then I pin it in all directions with pins about a hand-width apart. If you don't have a table at home to accommodate this possibly at your local church or firehouse?
