My DH bought home a surprise for me! He had purchased a piece of every precut fabric Walmart was selling. He works in the garden center and found out that the store had put all the precuts on sale so they could the fabric dept back in. I thought it would be funny to make him a lapquilt to remind him of his purchase!!!
Now to my problem, the two pieces that came together was a batik and a tie dye; and there was 1 yd. of each. I was able to get 10 blocks and the smaller pieces of the 12 and pieces that were required in the pattern. I'm going to do a slightly different layout of the blocks, to get the length but use wider borders to get overall width and lenght; than what the pattern calls for. The pattern is from the called Twist and Turns by Suzanne Mc Neill.
I've never used batik/tie dye fabrics in a quilt, do you use solids for a border? I was thinking about using three varying widths of fabric to make border, something in a narrow width and then two more that were wider. There's so many colors in the batik that I'm sure I could find solids that would blend with them.
Sure appreciate the help, I'm really stumped as to what to use!!! Chris
