Whenever I make a garment from a new pattern or for someone I am not quite sure of their size I buy a piece of clearance fabric that I like and make it from that and then do adjustments to the pattern. So far this has worked for me and if I like the tester when I am done I wear it too. My advice would be try something with very simple lines first and then go from there. Good Luck ;) ;) ;)
