When that happens to me, I figured out that my mind is picturing it to look a certain way. The way it's laying, the exact position I think it's in. Then when it doesn't, my mind plays tricks on me and I can't even see what I'm looking at. So I clear my mind of any pre-concieved idea of what it looks like and start looking again. Most of the time I'll find it.
I find that I'm doing that with words lately. I'll read a sentence and my mind just sort of fills in the spaces and when it dawns on me that it doesn't make any sense I go back and re-read and it's not even close to what I thought it said. :roll:
