I'm not sure exactly, but I have 20 73 gal (approx.) in my LR/DR, along with about 10 more in my bedroom and closet. This is about1/2 to 3/4 of what I originally had in my 3-bedroom house before we moved to a 2-bedroom apt. My husband gritched about that amount, while my girlfriend was tickled pink that I had whittled it down so far. I have since re-sorted and refolded about a third of those bins, so I have even gotten rid of 3 -4 bins that size. I just did a family reunion quilt for the July 4th family reunion, and didn't have to buy any additional fabric. Yes!!! I was very proud of myself. Part of that was because my family sends fabric in various sizes once I pick a color, and I come up with the background and backing fabric. Fortunately, my girlfriend, who inherited most of my stash remembered a large piece of fabric that I had given to her, so there was the backing fabric. Even when I ran out of the one background fabric (because I improperly cut some too short), I switched to another one - I figured if I had trouble seeing which side was the front and which was the back, my family wouldn't notice that it was different. And if they do, tough. I personally was very proud of the amount of fabric I purged and what I brought with me. Actual yardage - anybody's guess.
