I mistyped, it is .004 (I checked the spool) and yes you can put it in the dryer. I don't have anything in my house that doesn't go in the washer and dryer including silk, bra's etc. I have both poly & nylon.
The thread is not stiff or hard, and so far I haven't had any breaks or toenail hangers. But I've only washed my quilts a dozen or so times, so time will tell. My quilt expert, who has been quilting professionally for over 30 years uses it almost exclusively. And she says (I just phoned her) that you can use it in your bobbin too. In fact, she is now living in BFE, and she wants me to go to one of the wholesale drapery companies and buy her a HUGE 2 pound cone of it before I come visit her next month for a quilt lock-in weekend.
