Also - if the dog got in the house and it smells - put a couple of bowls of cider vinegar out and around.. Somehow it absorbs the stink.
The big old boy in my avatar cannot resist skunks.
That solution was highly reccommended by our vet! Just make sure when you mix it, you use an open container like a bucket otherwise the peroxide will explode!! Don't ask me how I know!!!!!!!!!
