I take melatonin about the same time each night and try to go to bed about the same time. If I don't I sometimes can't sleep until two or so and getting up at 5;30 or 6:30 isn't easy. I usually only have a sleepness night and sleep like a log the next. Husband never has any sleepness nights, not even the night before surgery, I do, he doesn't. Go figure.
