Washing them first before you sew them would be necessary and use a heavier needle. The seed bags we get in the spring tend to ravel easily so serging the edges or double seaming may be necessary. Darn you! you're getting my mind turning way too fast again too ... no animal feed here anymore, though have lots of friends to source it from. Not sure though if our Canadian feedbags have gone so colourful as yours in the USA!
