and one of the tutorials I just posted is on crayola quilts and she said that some of the off brand crayons dont have enough pigment and will fade but she has had good luck with the Crayola brand also crayola has come out with a crayon specifically for fabric

Yep, regular Crayola-brand crayons. :) Off-brand crayons work, but the color seems to fade a bit when the fabric is ironed afterwards.
I recall reading up on using Crayons and they didn't recomend washing. They were not permenent. Did Crayons change their reciepe?
I think I'll try this with my DGD, that's her on my avitar. She wants to make a quilt with me again, we've done a small butterfly wallhanging. She's only 6 years old, but so what, good to start young if they have the interest!
