Scrap, needle turn applique is only 1 method for applique. You can also use freezer paper for wither hand OR machine applique. Also there is fusbiles to glue the pieces down while you machine sdtitch around the edges. I started out doing the fusible method, but switched over to hand as I wasn't happy with my chosen way to embroider. Don't give up on the project because on a single technique.
