I forgot to add we had all kind of fruit when I was a kid, sometimes we would take a salt shaker up in the big apple tree, they were big and sour. We had a mulberry tree, gooseberry bushes and went across the field to the railroad tracks and picked Mom elderberries that grew wild over there. I believe she added apple to the elderberry juice. Took a lot of the bitty berrys to make a batch.
We had a rhubarb patch that had such big leaves we used them for umbrellas when it rained. Such fun my sister and 5 brothers had, there is 9 years between the 7 of us. I was #3 and the first girl so I was Mom's helper.
