I already do both of those!! I don't smoke, eat or drink in my sewing room so I take lots of breaks just to get a drink. I usually quilt for no more than 30 minutes (usually more like 15) then get up and stretch.
I just put a small stack of folded fabric on my chair and did some quilting. It felt a LOT more comfortable. At least I know it is definitely a height issue.
I'm 5' nuthin ... I'm used to "height issues".
