Well, I saw Roolen's Star Spin some time ago, lost the link and the idea, but saw it again recently on the board. I was hooked again and determined to make one. WOW is she good, her tute makes it look like a piece of cake, but those blasted little "triangle corners" and the junction of all those pieces in the center are VERY difficult. Also, I decided on the first one to make each piece from various scraps etc which made the whole process even more difficult!!

The first one is finished, used some decorative stitches on my machine to quilt it and then "hid" my center behind an appliqued flower center. UGH

The second one isn't finished, just have the top made, center is still difficult. Roolen's work is spectacular and this doo-dad is more difficult than I thought to start with. But I have to confess, I LOVE making them.

I don't have a fancy ruler, just used what I have and found that the marks on my cutting mat were wonderfully helpful.
