There is NO hard and fast rule for the size of a Queen size quilt. The size of the block may depend on the size and how wide you want to make your borders. With the quilt I use for my photo, I used three borders and the quilt measures 89" x 110". Measure your bed and see where you want the quilt to fall. If you don't want to have a dust ruffle, you might end up making a small King. Also, think of how many blocks you really want to make. The larger the blocks, the less you will have to make. Also sometimes sashing can help you get to the measurement that you want. Sometimes that motivates me in deciding what size my block should be. GOOD LUCK!!
