Thanks ladies! I did 'get it' (a little, anyway)!
the pattern/inspiration is out of one of the older F & P mags I had gotten at the library (2005?). the white is 35% wool, the rest is the cheapie stuff. don't plan on washing it so i hope the mix won't matter. i used a 14" pizza pan and my scallop blade to cut the circle.
