I use fleece as well .... and have a 7-1/2ft x 10 ft wall ... fleece is flat on the wall.
I have hung fully pieced full sized quilts on the "fuzzy" design wall ... and they have stayed put for weeks on end!! Just need to smooth on with your hand and they stick.
I didn't think of it when I responded last but mine is an old flanel lined vinyl tablecloth.
