I started out with a flannel-backed tablecloth, but it was too small and the blocks would fall off eventually. Then I tried a king sized flannel sheet which worked for a time, but you're right - the bigger the blocks, the easier they fall. Plus, every time the dog would walk by he'd knock some blocks off with his big ole waggy tail. I finally got some cheapo batting and now the blocks stick wonderfully.
