The womens group at my church gather toiletries throughout the year and we fill these bags. We then donate them to a place that helps support women and children experiencing homelessness and poverty. They offer many other resources, but this is one small part that we can contribute. I have also used these bags as a gift bag. I am sure there is probably a much easier way to make them and I am always open for suggestions.

Cut a piece of material 18 inches wide x 13 inches tall

Serge the top 18 inch width of material

Fold a 1 inch hem and press

Sew a button hole close to upper edge of hem. I use the fold to line up the button hole. Sew button hole on opposite upper edge of hem. Make a slit in center of each button hole.

Stitch top hem down

Fold material in half right sides together, serge side and bottom closed.

Turn right side out, run ribbon in button hole through the hem and out the other button hole. String ends of each ribbon through button and tie.

We fill our's with toiletries, but you could fill it with whatever you desire. Pull the button to secure and give it to someone special.
