One teacher told the class that she always keeps a practice piece close that she uses to "warm up" on because it can take a few minutes to get your rhythm going even as an experienced hand quilter. She provided us with piece of white muslin which had a design to follow. It saved time from having the students draw it in class.

I did learn the need for a good thimble and how to buy one that fits. It made a world of difference.
