I agree about the Gees Bend quilts. This is a community of people who can trace their history back and along with it their quilts. Black history isn't just about leaders and extraordinary achievement. It is more about how people survived such adversity. Like women's history, it is everyday people who's stories are real.
Totally agree with redmadder et al...Gees Bend projects would seem more in line w/ the intent of the project.
