I found this yesterday while roaming Walmart. $60 seemed like a good price for it, so on impulse I bought it along with the attachment for single-folding 2.5" strips for binding (another $7).

I'm having second thoughts, though.

For one thing, I just realized that some quilters advise not ironing binding strips before sewing them to the quilt. This is to allow the edge to roll more naturally. I have always ironed my binding strips in half, and it seems as if this machine would be great for that, but maybe I should be skipping this step entirely! I don't often make bias strips for applique and, when I do, they're pretty easy to make with my Clover bias tips.

I'm getting ready to bind a quilt, so I really need to decide whether to use this machine or not. I'm thinking maybe I should try the no-iron binding strip method first. It would certainly help our household budget if I take the machine back!

Anyone have any advice?
