To tell the difference between a 27/28 and 127/128 check the shuttle. Is there a little button that you press to lift the shuttle out? If not, it's a 27/28, if so, 127/128.
:) Pretty new babies!! They take a standard 15x1 needle, you don't have to buy Singer needles...any brand will work.
Also, if you need to press the thumb tab beneath the tension discs to release the tension when removing your sewing, it's a 28, whereas a 128 has no thumb tab because there is a lever inside which automatically releases the tension when you raise the foot.
The shuttle button test works provided no-one has ever replaced the shuttle carriage. I've got a 28K with a shuttle release button.
27s and 127s aren't quite so thick on the ground here. If I saw a decent one I might snaffle it up.
