I guess almost everyone who do hand embroidery is give a project at some point by someone because they know they will not finish it or ever even start it. I was given this a looooong time ago. It was meant to be done by hand embroidery with yarn, but I only like to do cross stitch with DMC or Anchor threads. I was thinking of how to get rid of it when I started looking at it with the eyes of a quilter and the idea of machine embroidery came on. First I thought of thread painting, but too many stitches to fill it up, and the details are lost.

So, I loaded my machine with some Fil tech Metallics from Bobbin Central and started doing the drawing free hand following the washable lines on the cloth. When the complete outline was done I filled some of it with Kreinick metallic threads. I then layered and quilted it. I am very pleased with the results. Want to see?
