You never know until you try. I've learned that every machine has its own personality even though they may be the same exact machine. My machine hates poly batting, but a friend has the same machine that loves it. So load up a test quilt and see what happens! I've used serger thread on a domestic machine for quilting, but never in my longarm. Might give it a try also.
