My neighbor is a single mom of 2 kids. A little boy that is 5 and a little girl that is 1 1/2 years old.
Her little boy Hayden starts Kindergarten tomorrow morning at 8:30 am Pacific Time.
He is so excited that the past 2 weeks, his mommy has told him that he has to go to bed at 8:00 pm and not fight and argue that he doesnt want to go to bed because he has to get into a bedtime routine for going to school.
He is so excited about going to school (we happen to live directly across the street from the schools playground and the same side of the building that the kindergarten class is on).
Anyways for the past 3 or 4 days, this tiny little 5 year old boy has been taking his little backpack that is almost bigger then he is, and takes all his stuff out of it, puts it all back in the backpack. He says hes just making sure he has everything he needs for school because he doesn't want his teacher to have to call his mommy. :) Children are so precious.
He has been learning how to write his name for about the past month hes doing a good job for the most part, but he really doesn't know how to hold the pencil correctly and his mom has been trying to teach him but it just doesn't seem to be connecting for him.
Anyways, about 7:30 tonight, Hayden and his mommy came over to my house to give me and my husband a big hug and to tell us hes all ready for school in the morning and that he will be a good boy and that he had to go home and go to bed because he is going to be tired when he comes home at 11:30 in the morning. (kindergarten here is only 3 hours). Bless his little heart. children are so precious and a gift from God. As he was visiting us, I started thinking about when my oldest daughter started kindergarten 30 years ago. The years have flown by that is for sure, but I am sure that the feelings that Hayden's mommy is having tonight and will have tomorrow morning is probably the same type of feelings that I felt and all of you mothers had felt.
