I have the opposite problem--my fine, medium blonde hair has progressively darkened, thinned, and gotten even finer. I used to hope for gray just for the heavier texture, but at 64 am still waiting. I dye it a little lighter because it looks better on my pale self, but mainly because it damages the hair enough to give it a hint of body. When it grows out a bit the color still looks OK but hair is straight and as limp as an overcooked... ANGEL HAIR noodle. And that's with lots of gel and hairspray. Makes me long for the halcyon days of youth, except then I thought I was fat and hair ugly, and had not a clue that both would only get worse! But now with less angst and more friends (and fabric!) and my exciting new avocation, I'd swap for the body but definitely not the rest of those yesteryears. :D
