Several years ago I was at an auction at an auction house that sold abandoned stuff from storage units. There was a large brown plastic bag in the mix that had a small 1930's postage stamp type piece of patchwork on the top. The bidding was active but I won the big and got the bag with the quilt top.
I took it home and put in the garage until I ould sort through the bag. A few days later a neighbor was in the garage and asked where the bad smell was coming from, that it smelled like garbage. I opened the plastic bag and sure enough it was a bag of garbage with the quilt on the top.
