If I am having trouble getting the thread through the eye, I turn the needle around. Works every time.

I keep a bottle of clear nail polish by the machine. Put a very light coat on the tip of the thread. When it dries the tip becomes stiff and it is easier to hit the eye for threading. Makes it easier.
