Growing up in Philadelphia, my girlfriends and I would pull our pennies, and I do mean pennies. After collecting soda bottles we found on the streets, we would get 2 cents a bottle, when we returned them to the neighborhood store. Then we would walk to Woolworth s at the shopping district. With 25 pennies we would share a plate of french fries with tons of ketchup. (The ketchup was free.) I know they just loved seeing us coming in. Yum!
