Deb, I use mine for controlling the fabric as it goes under the needle. You know how you have it lined up just perfect and when the needle hits it, it slips or slides and gets off the mark just a bit, well with a stiletto which is pointed at one end, you can hold the fabric down at the point the needle hits it because the point on the stiletto is so small and sharp you can get it right up there with the needle and control it so the needle goes just where you want it.
