I am a little of both. I belong to several groups where we sit and stitch but those are applique groups. When I do my machine quilt work, I do that alone. I prefer doing work on my machine alone because I get more done that way. I found these friendship groups by joining my local guild and they had splinter groups (friendship groups) already established and you could join one based on your likes and dislikes in quilting.
