I am in the process of finishing making a barn quilt for over our garage door! I got a piece of 12x12 cedar, painted it dark green (accent color for our yard and trim) and used the Diamond Star pattern and, ruler in hand, made the front of the barn quilt. I used a rose color for the star points and pale yellow for the pinwheel. I still have another coat of yellow to put on and then spray some polyurethane on it. On the back I will put down the name of the block, a small description of it, my name and the date. And then I will hang it up and enjoy it! I love Barn Quilts!
I also am making one for my sister. The pattern will be Bear Paws, to commemorate the day the bear got in on their porch where they live in Wisconsin! That will be done in brown and teal blue with I think I will use either a beige or white background.
It has been fun to do this. If I could get a picture on here, I would show it to you all. It is sweet! I can't transfer pictures. I don't know what is wrong with it. I am going to try the Patrice method after while.
