He had always thought about making a full size quilt with these, and after having a stroke in 2005, he decided "it's now or never" - he wanted to prove he was tougher than the stroke.

He spent over 2000 hours (he figures) cutting the pieces from scraps with scissors, and sewing them together (all on an 1878 treadle). I spent over 1000 hours handquilting it.

He would like to sell it to a collector, and is offering a very generous finders' fee to anyone that produces a lead that results in a sale.

Tougher than a stroke indeed!!!! Stroke = 0; your DH=1000000 !

That pattern and the work you both did is amazing!

Have you thought of contacting the heart association or other stroke victims association to use it as an inspiration of dealing with strokes? Your DH and you are an inspiration to stroke victims, the medical people who deal with strokes as well as quilters!

I wish I had my quilt museum up and running! I would proudly display it along with your story.
