I machine sew the front and hand sew the back. Hand sewing the back of the binding is adding a personal touch to the quilt, even though I machine quilt and do some hand quilting on the top. Hand sewing the back is my final personal touch to the quilt, not even the hand sewn label means as much to me as hand sewing the binding. Sounds strange, but that's my reasoning :D
