Is it that the button won't move the cursor up and down? If so, there's a remedy. Take a piece of white paper and lay it on a table. Then take your mouse, turn it upside down and run it up and down and back and forth on the paper fast making sure the button is rolling around while you're doing it. You'll be surprised at how much dirt comes out. The dirt prevents the button from moving the cursor. If this is the problem, this should work.
