I save anything bigger than a 2 inch strip. For most battings I just but the edges and use a wide large zig zag stitch. For the poly battings , sometimes the foot get caught in the batting, I will use a skinny piece( 1/2 inch) of tissue paper over the area the foot is riding on . Then either pull it off or .. I have been known to leave in in depending on the project.
