They are easy to clean out. I just shake them out well (outside), turn them inside out and wash them out in the shower. I'm at my daughter's apartment so the shower is my only option, but at home I would just take the hose to them.
Very simple to make, you can cut down to any size you want and I use 18" of the webbing to make each handle.
