I keep the scraps in a plastic tub, large and small. Sometimes the pieces are the perfect size for table runners, placemats, and even baby quilts. I will piece them together with a large zig-zag stitch, after cutting a straight line with a used rotary cutter, which is used only for cutting backing and I have used blades that were perhaps too dull to cut fabric, but they will cut the batting. You can always use the small pieces for doll quilts, pot holders, etc.
