My Quilt Guild ran a challenge this year, encouraging all the members to make a mini-quilt and enter it in the homecraft division of our county fair. The rules were that a mini-quilt "can be anything". Since I'm a new quilter, I decided to use this little project to start to learn to hand-quilt. My mini-quilt is a single D9P block made from 9 five-inch charm squares. The first photo shows the quilt and the second is an attempt at a closeup of the hand quilting. I did the quilting entirely freehand, just putting in whatever struck me in each section of the D9P.

The third picture is the completed blocks and layout for the throw-sized quilt I'm making for my sister as a wedding present. I hope to finish assembling the top today.
