I used to live in New Braunfels...wish I could meet up with you. The Quilt Haus is wonderful and they have the friendliest staff.
But also check out Oak Leaf Quilts downtown near the Plaza...it's a terrific shop with two added attractions: 1. the old building it occupies and 2. just a couple of doors down is Naegelin's Bakery...the oldest Bakery in Texas! Both are well worth a vist.
