Your number plate is there it is the number in the 3rd picture. Not sure what the hole is but it looks like where you could get into it to oil the mechanism.
I was just viewing one of Billy's tutes for a similar electric machine and that plate with the hole in the machine he was demo'ing was the mounting area for the motor. So perhaps they made the machine cases to be either treadle or motorized and mine became a treadle.
