I would put that magenta around the whole outside! Love it! I think your quilt is great! Is there going to be an outside border? What is it going to be?
The first lay out is safe and traditional. The second one is WOW POP ZAM. I also think, without seeing it, that the brown border will go great with the magenta!
I think you are doing fine and on the right track. If you can ask yourself questions and make choices through the process while working on it your doing great!
