I have the 37 and it works fine for me. I asked the clerk at the dealer's about getting the 57 and she told me the 37 was just as good. I had a foot similar to the 57 on my Janome but had trouble keeping the fabric from curling up a little into the guide so my seams were not always accurate. At least with the 37 you can see if the fabric is extending beyond the side of the foot. Good luck!
