I was sitting in the exam chair of the eye exam area of Costco when all this happened. Then I walked out to go visit my DH, who was in a rehabilitation hospital just a few miles from my town, and I didn't pay much attention to the TV area of Costco.
I never have my car radio on because it irritates me, and when I walked into DH's room he was still drugged up and kept asking if I could get someone to fix his TV. It kept playing the same movie over and over. Took me a while to realize that it was for real.
After visiting him, I went on to the Blood Source at the hospital and suddenly we were massively swamped with donors till we had to shove them out the door at 11 PM. It was wonderful to see all those lovely people wanting to help in some way or other. Local restaurants and fast food cafes kept sending us (For donors also) huge sacks of sandwiches, and I remember a whole lot of ice cream snacks, and a lot of the hospital's workers kept baking us large trays of cookies...I'll never forget that day, how so many just plain folks rolled up their sleeves and were grimly determined to do their duty.
