Well, it is small (7" x 3" - including the handle), but it does sew like a big machine. You can even regulate stitch length, which I didn't realize it could do. The presser foot is shaped to be a needle guard, which will be nice when DGD is around. The manual has directions for making gathers, tucks and ruffles - and talks about the girls using it now and taking it to college. I have to admit, I had fun sewing with it!
