I didn't use a pattern, just made it up from seeing a photo of one. I used a 4-1/2" center square and 2-1/2" squares and hst's around the star. The patchwork was done with 2-1/2" squares also. Bonnie Hunter has a different method of making the stars on her website. She calls it Smoky Mountain stars. You might like that pattern also:
