I decided to do FMQ with metallic thread on the Christmas tree skirt I am making. It didn't start out too well because of breakage, but I had gone far enough I didn't want to rip out.

Then the most helpful thread appeared on the quilt board. I didn't have a metallic needle so I put aside the skirt until I could get the proper needle. I've done all the other tips, etc and it is better but it still is breaking.

It will be a long time before I quilt with metallic thread again -- at least a large piece like a Christmas tree skirt. I have quilted small pieces with metallic thread but don't remember the breaking issues and I didn't even have the proper needle!
