Out of curiousity, I looked up the word origin -- The country Chile comes from a mis-interpretation by the Spanish explorers of the local word for their country and the name of their leader. I didn't really find anything for the fruit/veggie name.

Botanically they are a fruit as they carry the seeds. Like bell peppers, eggplant, zuccini, squashes, tom-aaaaah-toes etc. :mrgreen: :lol:
