I posted a question, asking if anyone ever used a paisley fabric to make a dresden, since each piece would be cut from a different part of the paisley, so, how would it look? Some replied that it should work like a S&W, so I got the material out, cut one strip, and just started cutting the blades, and found that out of one strip, I got 4 sets of 5 blades, which aren't true S&W, but are close, so I think that I am going ahead and try this. I found the material at the thrift store, 4 yards of it, for $4, so no big investment in fabric. I just laid the blades out in the 4 different designs that I got, and will sew them up tomorrow.
The colors don't come through real well, because it is basically a silver/gray shimmery material, and under lights, so maybe when I actually get one sewn, take a picture during the day, they will look better.

Here is one arrangement
